Purchased this on sale for 24.95. Very good effects but does not repeat voice and eye effects unless I touch it. I would have been very disappointed if I had paid full price. Am I doing something wrong?

Yhis item comes with nothing to secure it with outsode. I had to go out and buy stakes just to hold it down. I was disappointed.
