Love the lamp. The color is not black however. More like a very dark bronze. That is what I wanted anyhow so I love it. I am adding a picture of the base as it is not shown. It is a very solid lamp. Easy to put together. Only thing are the shades. It is hard to get them straight. When adding the light bulb the fixture moves around and can make the shade crooked. Can be fixed and will stay but it is a bit tricky.
As far as how the light turns on, there are three settings. One light goes on, two lights go on and then all three go on. Hope this helps future buyers. Really cute lamp!!!
